More about Me
I combine my 20+ years of speaking, training, and facilitation with 14+ years as a yoga, breathwork, and meditation instructor to bring you this healing work. In my workshops, retreats, and private sessions, we will use conscience connection to help us explore the way in which we see the world and how the world sees us. You will leave with concrete ways to help you get grounded and create or grow your personal practices and rituals.
I also work with plant medicine to help heal our bodies, minds, and souls from years of stress and trauma. My skincare products can be seen and purchased below.
I have my advanced RYT-500 certification, having completed my 200-hour certification with Sivananda Yoga in 2009 and my 300-hour certificate with Yoga Mechanics in 2022. I received my certification in Somatic Attachment Theory in August 2023.
I am currently at New Detroit, the nation's oldest racial justice coalition. I am the Director of Transformational Change and lead New Detroit's Just Institute's consulting and training services.
I hold ECOSOC Special Consulting Status at the United Nations with my NGO PEAC Institute, where I am the Co-Founder and Board President. At the United Nations, I am on the Financing for Development Committee and sit on the Working Group on Climate Finance. I was one of the founding members of the Developing Safe & Civil Schools team, which helped create a new profession within education, the Social Emotional Learning Coordinator. With over two decades in the education sector, Rebecca is an educator and activist who opens spaces of peace and cross-cultural communication worldwide. Her work encompasses the creation of experience-based learning, social skill training, diversity & cultural awareness, and anti-bias/racism & communication training for corporations, organizations, institutions, and governmental groups.
I have spoken at and worked with many prominent institutions and governments such as The United Nations, Harvard Law School, the Yale Policy Conference, the University of Michigan, NJ Department of Education, Rutgers University, the National Liberty Museum, The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, & Industry; The City of Hiroshima; The Hiroshima Peace Museum; Nagoya University; Gifu University; New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and The PyeongChang Global Peace Forum, to name a few.
MY MISSION
To help birth a new world full of empathy and equity. It is going to be uncomfortable and messy, and that’s ok! Discomfort is our warning sign that something is off, not right. As practitioners and participants going through this messy and often emotional space, we all need a place to recharge and fill our cups.
MY APPROACH
Centers on healing and is grounded in self-determination and decolonization. I understand that no issue can be solved in a silo. We are interconnected, as are all our problems; this is why we can only solve them if we work together.
The rediscovery of inter-generational trauma and the practice of trauma-informed care are cornerstones of my workshops and retreats. We will explore non-religious forms of meditation, self-reflection, and somatic movement to help move trauma through us so we can more fully show up in all the spaces we occupy.
My Hope
We can get to a place where letting someone know they’re being racist is like telling someone they have lettuce in their teeth. “…hey, oh yeah you, you got a little racism on your cheek there…no, no problem, happy to help. Hope someone would tell me if I was walking around with that on my face!“.
It's structural, not personal! The more conversations we can have about our country, our biases, and how racism shows up in our spaces, the more empathy and equity we grow!
We do this through a conscious connection to ourselves and to the world around us. There are many modalities to help us explore the way in which we see the world and how the world sees us. In my workshops, retreats, and private sessions, we will explore these points of connection and ways to help you grow your personal practices and rituals. I combine my 20+ years of training and facilitation experience with 14+ years as a yoga, breathwork, and meditation instructor to bring you this racial healing modality.
